Creators of Tiberian Sun Did Tiberiansun2k2.cjb.net create Tiberian Sun? NO we did not create the game we are a fan site of the game. We are also mentioned in the game as well. The creators of Tiberian Sun are the creators of the original RTS that shocked the world (Command and Conquer), Westwood Studios. Westwood Studios used to be owned by Virgin Interactive but were bought buy Electronic Arts in 1998. How many factions are there in C&C 2: Tiberian Sun? There are two (2) playable factions in C&C 2: Tiberian Sun. The Global Defense Initiative or GDI and the Brotherhood of Nod. The war between these two sides is continued from the original Command and Conquer. Although, in C&C 2: Tiberian Sun a third faction has been introduced, but unfortunately is not playable. This third faction is know as "The Forgotten" ( Click here for further information concerning the Forgotten or see below). What can I expect in C&C 2: Tiberian Sun? Unlike previous C&C games, C&C 2: Tiberian Sun will be fully 3D with special lighting effects, brand new units, structures and plenty more to make you drool. The story of C&C 2:Tiberian Sun will take place 20 years after C&C: Tiberian Dawn, and will feature a Brotherhood of NOD that has gone underground (literally) and has broken up into many parties after Kane's supposed death, each claiming to be the real Brotherhood. GDI is evacuating the world's population to the Antarctic areas where tiberium infestation has been slowed down, and has evacuated their best scientists and generals to the command space station known as the Philadelphia. NOD uses guerilla warfare stealth-type tactics, while GDI uses brute force. C&C 2: Tiberian Sun has many new features never before seen before in an RTS. Firstly, Tiberian Sun will incorporate time of day variations (night and day). This allows for a totally different plan of offense as well as defense that is required to do well against your opposition. During night missions you must set-up searchlights to look for your opposition. These lights will move accross the ground until an enemy unit is spotted and it will "lock" onto that unit until it goes out of range. Therefore, attacking unit will only be able to see the searchlights of the base until they get close enough to see more. In times where there is no light units only have approximately 50% of their usual vision range. As well as time of day variations C&C 2: Tiberian Sun will also have weather effects. These are not your normal everyday weather variations like rain and snow, instead C&C 2: Tiberian Sun will have effects such as ion storms and meteor showers. Ion storms cause lightning to strike which may destroy your units or even start a forest-fire. Another interesting feature of ion storms in the game is that sometimes they can temporarily disable high technilogically advanced units through electrical interference. Reducing you to fight only with tactics and strategy rather than just brute force. Meteor showers will cause wide spread devastation and destruction especially if they happen to hit one of your units and/or structures. It is also possible for meteor showers to spawn tiberium vines that clutter your base and mutate your infantry. Wind will also be present in C&C 2: Tiberian Sun and it will carry poisonous gases and spread forest fires. I thought Kane died in Tiberian Dawn. Is he really dead? No, Kane is not dead and he will be back in C&C 2: Tiberian Sun to deliver his usual evil thoughts. The original actor that played Kane, Joe Kucan, is back in Tiberian Sun. So you'd better watch out for some diabolical action. James Earl Jones will also be making a debut in the C&C world as Generl Solomon of the Global Defense Initiative so respect his ATHOURIT-I! What are the effects of tiberium on infantry? If infantry from any faction are exposed to tiberium of any type for a prolonged or extended period they will begin losing their health until they die. Westwood Studios have also said that "something else" would also happen to infantry if exposed to tiberium. Rumours have it that infantry become mutated and turn against their own infantry. Although, as of yet this is only a rumour. What can you tell me about EVA in C&C 2: Tiberian Sun? EVA is coming back, and with a new friend, Cabal. C&C fans may recognize EVA as the voice of the "computer" in the game. Westwood Studios has made some major changes with how EVA (and her new Nod counterpart, Kabal) factor into the game. Both entities are now artificially intelligent lifeforms that will make appearances in the game's cutscenes and in-game movies. The people I spoke to on the team seemed particularly proud of Cabal, who they claim is "pure evil". He is rumored to be "worse than Kane" and is quite cynical and sarcastic. Just to clarify, EVA is for GDI and Cabal is for NOD. This could be an interesting development in future titles... Can power be switched off to individual structures? Yes, power can now be turned off to individual structures. Did your opponent just destroy two of your power plants? Feeling rather impotent now that your buildings are all offline? Well, just turn off your Construction Yard and your Barracks, for instance, and you can redirect what existing power you have to the more essential structures, such as SAM sites, turrets, etc. Who are the Forgotten? The Forgotten is a race that has been created through tiberium mutation. They are a combination of both ex-GDI and NOD forces. NOD created The Forgotten on purpose through tiberium mutation to try to create "the ultimate killing machine" and help the evolution of mankind. After their experimentations were found to be unsuccessful the newly created race were abandonded and neglected by both the GDI and the Brotherhood of Nod. We have more details thanks to an interview that PC Fan released part of. Here it is: The Forgotten, as mentioned earlier,
are mutated "freaks". They aren't loyal to GDI or NOD, they're
sort of mercenaries. They'll work for and temporarily ally with whoever
has the supplies they want (weapons, medical supplies, etc), and only
one player at a time can have them on their side. You can find the supplies
by blowing up buildings and sometimes getting crates, also trains sometimes
transport them I think. Anyway, there are three kinds of Forgotten units,
all infantry. You've got your sniper, she picks off infantry at long
range (probably has a good site range for scouting, too). Then there's
"Ghostalker", a heavy weapon's expert. He'll probably be the
equivalent of C&C: Red Alert's Tanya, with the ability to blow up
structures and a Rail Gun almost as powerful as the Mammoth Mark 2's
(did I say Mammy? You'll have to find out when you buy the game or head
over to the forgotten section. What? You think I'm gonna make a link
when it's right on the sidebar? =). |
